Is a series of latex formed objects from everyday life. By hybridizing these objects, they are brought together into a shared materiality, creating new forms, evoking our thinking into new constructs of the senses.
The basis of this series is the hot water bottle, which in this context is symbolizing the personal retreat into desired – or undesired aspects of – loneliness, sickness, comfort, sadness or desire.Other objects cast of latex like a telephone, remote control, tea kettle, vodka bottle, book, car tire, swimming fins and chocolate are fused together with the hot water bottle into one single object.

‘ Jumping in the gene pool ‘ was developed as a site specific installation for this exhibition. The title, intended as an invitation to the observer is an important conceptual component. The architectural elements of the exhibition space became the basis of the concept.These architectural elements consist of two existing 51 foot long walls made of backlit frosted glass. These walls became the departure point for the subject of scientific, genetical engineering. The artist chose her visual language based on the use of optical glass in biological science.
An in situ installation fabricated by using handmade, endlessly interchangeable paper modules. These modules are screen printed with the images of construction cranes and migrating flocks of birds.
This piece is part of an ongoing series with the same title; paper pulp fiction. The paper pulp is used to fabricate the material. The infinitely repeating system of interconnected modules forms the base to apply visual fiction. The english word fiction : invention, making up things, is represented in the graphic way the artwork is created. The fictional context of the imagery employed in this work is the observation of the sky above us. Looking at a mostly urban sky, interlaced by the filigree construct of the crane structures. These are interrupted off and on by migrating birds, symbolizing another dimension of the world above us. Is an Object installed at Kunsthalle Steyr during the exhibition ‘ Object Linz ‘ Steyr, Austria 1998.
Riedl created a large object in the shape of a fishing snare, covered with net. Simultaneously this object symbolizes a ladies net stocking. The ambiguity of the object – fishnet / net stocking – tow objects used for ‘ catching ‘ are merged into one visual statement.The fishing snare a seemingly archaic apparatus, the net stocking, a garment that contains the connotation of fetish , are connected by the use of the same material for both, – the net.
The word object can also mean : the one that is thrown toward or thrown in front of, therefor containing the content of the visualization as well as the subject. The phrase: thrown in front of the senses was the was the point of interest for the creation of the artwork.
The sensual reproach emanating from the artwork is led by the visualization that the fetish character of the net stocking contains a somewhat archaic meaning, similar to the archaic apparatus of the snare. ‘ The imagery of this hybrid school of fish / stocking points towards a big catch.’
